A man arrested over a car crash which caused the death of a university student as she travelled to hand in her final piece of coursework has been bailed until late November.

The 34-year-old was the driver of a white BMW M3 when it fatally struck Hina Shamim, 21, on Penrhyn Road on Tuesday, March 31, this year.

She was just weeks away from finishing her sports science and nutrition degree at Kingston University.

It is believed Hina was knocked over by the car before being pinned against a wall after the vehicle smashed into a passing bus.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He had five children in the car who were also taken to hospital.
