Go behind the scenes at a funeral parlour, see the seats of power and discover some of Kingston's most ancient treasures during this year's heritage open days.

Historic buildings, from churches to schools and even an aqueduct and synagogue will open their doors to the public for at least three days from September 10.

Kingston Society chairman Matthew Rees said: "The open days provide a rare opportunity for free access to significant buildings in Kingston that are not normally open to the public or usually charge an entry fee."

Frederick W Paine, funeral director in Old London Road, Kingston, will show off its Grade II-listed interior and the unique collection of funeral artefacts in its museum.

Favourites from previous years, like St Mary's Church in Chessington and All Saint's Church, will be on show and the Kingston Aviation Exhibition, in Canbury Park Road, will put on a display of models, century-old photos and more.
