Vinoteque, in Claremont Road, will auction a script from the hit American fantasy drama show signed by actress Natalie Dormer, who plays Queen Margaery Tyrell.

The bar has amassed some 150 lots for the auction, including art prints and sculptures, to raise money for Water Aid.

Owner Larisa Noaca encouraged Surbitonians fed up of their commute to work to think of women who have to walk miles simply to collect drinking water.

She said: “I’ve supported Water Aid since 2010. In the bar, we were chatting about this and how awful it is out there with no water and poor sanitation.

“We want to raise £10,000. I know it’s a lot of money, but it’s not impossible. If you don’t try, you won’t know.

“The lots have come mostly from auction houses and vintage fairs. It’s something that everyone will be interested in. We started organising it last year.”

The signed script was donated thanks to a few leveraged connections and is expected to be one of the main draws of the auction.

Tim Hopkirk, a risk management consultant from Kingston, has done considerable work in bringing together the lots.

He said: “It’s all very well to talk about it, but why don’t we do something? Everybody enjoys going to boot fairs and auctions.

“We’re encouraging everybody we know to, if not donate a physical lot, then maybe some time.”

Mr Hopkirk’s wife, architect Ana Mercedes Hopkirk, will auction blocks of consultation time, he said.

Water Aid works in 37 countries to improve access to clean water and sanitation, including across Africa, in south Asia and in the central American nation of Nicaragua.

The auction will be held on Sunday, September 6, from 2pm to 9pm.
