Kingston Museum hosts the annual Robin Hood Festival on bank holiday Monday where visitors can experience the town as it was in its medieval age.

The festival, taking place in Fairfield Recreational Ground, will give people the chance to discover how the legendary outlaw of Sherwood Forest is linked to the royal borough.

There is a wide range of interactive activities which are fun for the whole family as the park is taken over by medieval knights and ladies, peasants, minstrels, monks and jesters.

The event will be opened by Morris dancers, inspired by Robin Hood tales and feature ancient dancers celebrating medieval festivals.

Let’s be Merrie workshops will run throughout the festival and people can try Morris dancing.

Longbows archery group is giving a performance of medieval archery and will train children to be Robin Hood helpers.

Other highlights of the event include talking to knights and dames to find out more about life in the medieval times and handling replicas of historical objects.
