Choirs and community groups are invited to become part of Hampton Court Palace's 500th birthday celebrations by taking part in special performances.

Community groups can work together at the palace to create and perform an opera with the English Touring Opera before showing off their creation in the Great Hall in November.

The Sing 500 event, which is open to groups in Richmond, Kingston, Elmbridge and Hounslow, also includes visits to the palace and creative workshops.

Adult choirs also have the chance to step into the spotlight and learn a specially commissioned song medley inspired by 500 years of music before a performance at Hampton Court in the autumn.

To find out more, community groups can attend an information day at the palace on Tuesday, April 28 from 6pm to 7.30pm or email kim.klug@hrp.org.uk.

An information day for choirs takes place on Saturday, April 25 from 11am to 12.30pm or email rosanagh.fuller@hrp.org.uk.
