A Kingston vicar had a triple anniversary celebration on Easter Monday.
Fr Martin Hislop, of St Luke’s Church, in Kingston, celebrated 15 years since becoming parish priest and 10 years since he was appointed vicar – as well as his 60th birthday.
He was joined by mayor of Kingston Councillor Ken Smith, as well as parishioners and fellow clergy members, for a choral evensong service and a party in the vicarage gardens.
Originally from Australia, Fr Martin worked as a university lecturer, a political adviser and a civil servant in Federal Aboriginal Affairs, before he was first ordained in 1991 in the diocese of North Queensland. His ministry has included school and university chaplaincy, as well as experience as a parish priest and in cathedral ministry.
