Foodies flocked in their thousands to the first BBC Good Food festival at Hampton Court this bank holiday weekend.
Organised by River Street Events, the festival saw two days of sunshine for its 15,000 visitors, who enjoyed live music and entertainment, produce from 100 UK exhibitors and a selection of kitchen gadgets.
Top chefs including Lisa Faulkner, John Torode and Gregg Wallace did demonstrations in the Summer Kitchen, and even Monday’s downpour failed to have a massive an impact on the family event, with many hardy souls braving the rain.
Palace director Paul Gray was delighted with the festival’s success, and said: “The palace has been a home for feasting and spectacular events for 500 years and therefore the beautiful, formal gardens were the perfect setting for people to eat, drink and have fun.”
River Street managing director Laura Biggs believes the first BBC Good Food festival at Hampton Court was a huge triumph and thanked those involved in the event’s organisation.
She said: “From the very start, the team at the palace has been a delight to work with and our collaboration has resulted in a very successful launch show for both BBC Good Food and Hampton Court Palace.”
