Myleene brings a touch of Klass to Hounslow festival

Musician and TV presenter Myleene Klass popped in to the Barrio Fiesta to say hello to thousands of revellers who turned out to enjoy the festivities.

The celebrity, who is half Filipino, made a surprise appearance at Lampton Park for the world’s largest event of its kind outside the Philippines.

A crowd of about 40,000 people attended the annual two day event to enjoy Filipino dancing and music by groups from across the UK.

Hollywood actor Michael Copon, who starred in The Scorpion King 2, was among those who entertained the huge audience.

Organiser Gen Ashley said: "It went very well and fortunately we got lucky with the weather.

"Myleene Klass was a complete surprise, we were not expecting her but she was really welcome, it was great for a mainstream celebrity to turn up. Her mum is Filippino and she wanted to bring her mum to the festival.

"I was in a meeting and I heard her name being called on stage, it was a real surprise."

Michelle Morley, of leisure service provider John Laing, said: "On Sunday there were a few showers and it was quite windy, but it didn't do anything to spoil people's experience.

"We have been working with the organisers, the police and fire brigade over the past six months, and we are all happy the event was a success.

"Everyone seemed delighted Myleene Klass was there, but it was unexpected. She just came along as a spectator and to support her community."
