A man has been charged with the murder of 43-year-old footballer Steven Ritchie who died minutes after finishing a match in Harlington on Sunday.
Mr Ritchie, 43, from Brentford, was attacked as he came off the pitch at Little Harlington Playing Fields.
Police say he had just taken part in a game of football when, following the final whistle, he became involved in an altercation with members of the opposing team.
Paramedics were called but Mr Ritchie was pronounced dead at the scene at about 1.05pm.
A postmortem examination at Uxbridge Mortuary yesterday gave the cause of death as a head injury.
Darren Forwood, 20, of Frays Avenue, West Drayton, has been charged with the murder of Mr Ritchie.
A second man, Brandon Thompson, 20, of Widmore Road, Hillingdon, has been charged with actual bodily harm.
They are due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court today.
