The Epsom Garden Society celebrated its 80th anniversary with hundreds of visitors attending its summer show on Saturday.

The event, held at St Martin’s Junior School in Ashley Road, had a wide selection of summer flowers, fruits and vegetables on display.

Alongside the traditional competitions for the best flowers and fruits, there was a team build a scarecrow competition and one for a jubilee planted pot. Children also enjoyed a free practical potting workshop.

Society member Cathy Flitter said: "It was great, a really special day. "We had the best number of entries since 2002, with more than 250 exhibits and the number of children entering increased.

"The society has grown enormously over the years. It used to be a small group whose members used to meet once a month, but now many families participate and a third of our entries come from children."
