An Epsom NHS team has won a national award recognising its work in dermatology.

The Epsom Downs Integrated Care Service (EDICS) dermatology service, which works from the Ebbisham Centre in Epsom town centre, won this year's British Journal of Nursing Dermatology Prize. The award was presented to Anita Webb, dermatology nurse specialist for the EDICS, at an awards ceremony in London.

Anita, who became a Queen’s Nurse in 2011 for her work at EDICS, said: "I am a great believer that patient care should be at the core of the service that we provide and I instil this throughout my team. It is a great honour for them to be recognised in this way."

Local GP, Dr Peter Stott, said: "We congratulate the dermatology team at the Ebbisham centre on their well-deserved award. Both our patients and my professional colleagues recognise the excellent local care provided by the EDICS-run clinics in our area and it is fantastic to see them also recognised nationally."

He added: "In these times when there is much discussion about changing the NHS, it is so important that where beacons of best practice exist, such as the Ebbisham centre clinics, these services are allowed to continue to provide the exceptional quality of care for patients that they currently deliver."
