Children got in to the spirit of world book day last week by dressing up as their favourite fictional characters.
Dennis the Menace, Willy Wonka and Thing 1 and 2 from Dr Seuss were all popular choices at Danetree Junior School in West Ewell with staff and children celebrating World Book Day with a fancy dress competition.
Sarah Lynagh, business manager at Danetree said: "They all absolutely entered into the spirit enthusiastically. We had a big assembly in the afternoon and had a judging panel and a prize giving ceremony. It was a fantastic day."
Winners of the fancy dress competition included Elisha Cox who dressed up as a Smurf, Owen West who came as Horrid Henry, Ella Underwood for her efforts as an Oompa Loompa, and Isabelle Ball who dressed as the Snow Witch.
