Silver pieces up for auction in the West Midlands may have been stolen from Surrey

Police have released images of silver items due to be auctioned in the West Midlands which are believed to have been stolen in a burglary in the south east.

The items include a George III silver waiter by John Crouch and Thomas Hannan, of London, dated 1780, and a pair of George III Scottish silver fiddle pattern toddy ladles by James Mckay, of Edinburgh, dated 1813. Other items recovered were two cream jugs, a christening mug and 10 pieces of cutlery.

Surrey Police now hope they can reunite them with their rightful owner.

Detective Sergeant Franca Gasparini said: “We are hopeful that someone might recognise one or more of these items. Our belief is that they were stolen either in Surrey, Hampshire, Sussex or Kent.”
