Children and their parents in Ewell have raised money to install a supply of drinking water for a Kenyan school.
Pupils at Ewell Grove Infant and Nursery school in West Street, were moved to start raising the money for the Oboch Primary School after being told about families in Kenya who are too poor to access safe water supplies.
As part of an exchange programme, two members of staff from the Kenyan school visited the children in Ewell to give them a first-hand account of the plight of some of their peers.
Headteacher at Ewell Grove, Kate Keane, said: "We are very proud that our school community has supported the installation of a vital life source to the children and community of Oboch.
"Many of Ewell Grove's aims and values are based on the need for compassion and respect for humanity and this is a clear example of how this can be achieved at a global level, by a small local school."
The school said it intends to continue fundraising to supply at least two more water tanks.
