A "distressed" teenage girl was verbally abused and inappropriately touched by a man with a "strong accent" as she walked along a busy main road in Bookham.

Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses to the “distressing” attack in Guildford Road, Bookham, near Dobbe’s Garden Centre last month.

The force has released an e-fit of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the attack.

The man attempted to engage the teenager in conversation at about 5.20pm on Thursday, November 2, but became verbally abusive towards her. He then touched her inappropriately.

The woman was able to defend herself and pushed the offender away, causing him to fall.

The victim described the man as having a strong accent, potentially Polish.

Sergeant Karen Scholey from Mole Valley Area Patrol Team, said: “This was a very concerning incident which has understandably caused a great deal of distress to the victim.

“I am urging anybody who recognises the man in this e-fit or anybody who witnessed the incident to contact us as soon as possible.

“The area would have been busy with traffic around this time and I believe someone must have witnessed the incident or events surrounding it.”
