University teachers in Epsom were named among the best in the UK in one of the most comprehensive national tables of higher education institutions.
The University for the Creative Arts (UCA), which has a campus in Ashley Road, Epsom, was named the best arts university in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017. The newspaper’s latest rankings were released on Sunday, September 25.
The university was also ranked 14th for quality of teaching and 53rd overall, up from 62nd last year.
Professor Simon Ofield-Kerr, Vice-Chancellor of UCA, said: “It is an incredible achievement for UCA – as a specialist arts university – to be named in the top 15 for teaching quality.
“We are ambitious for the future and are on a journey to be recognised internationally as one of the most important specialist creative arts universities, as we expand our portfolio to include performing arts, music and a range of technology and coding degrees.”

The UCA also has campuses in Canterbury, Farnham and Rochester, as well as teaching bases at Maidstone Television Studios and the Royal School of Needlework. Alumni include Dame Zandra Rhodes, Hollywood director Gareth Edwards and Turner Prize nominee Tracey Emin.
