Tadworth tots have launched an appeal for volunteers to donate plants and equipment to the Co-operative Childcare based on Tadworth Court.

The appeal is for the local community to donate herbs, plants and wooden tools so the children at The Co-operative Childcare, based in Tadworth Court can learn more about gardening and plants.

The appeal was started after one of the parents, Elizabeth Broderick, volunteered her time to help the nursery make flower beds out of bamboo and willow.

Developing an outdoor space for the toddlers allows a fun area for the children to play in all year round as well as teaching them about the seasons and the value of caring for something.

The children are also taking part by bringing their own plants home with them to nurture and grow with the aim to put them in the nursery garden in the future.

Manager of The Co-operative Childcare Tadworth, Sally Bonard, said: “To be able to grow the garden we rely on kind donations of time and plants from the local community. We’d like to build a long-lasting garden for children to enjoy for years to come.”

Parent volunteer Elizabeth Broderick said: “as a keen gardener and mum it is great to see that the improved garden is allowing my son and his classmates to enjoy being outdoors and to develop their understanding of nature in a fun way.”
