Ewell Castle Preparatory School students participated in ‘Wastebusters’ week in a bid to achieve a recycling award.
Children from reception to year six have been bringing in milk bottles, an array of old stamps, used batteries, empty ink cartridges to make recycled creations in the classroom.
The young students have used their creativity to produce elephants, electrical lights, plant pots, rockets and bird feeders to name a few from their recyclable materials.
The week ran from April 18-22.
Headteacher Andy Robson said: “We’re working hard as a school to improve our levels of recycling and are really aiming to achieve the Green Flag Award this year.
“By holding the ‘Wastebusters’ week, we have highlighted the issue of recycling amongst our school community.”
The Green Flag Award is an international award programme that aims to make schools sustainable and to bring about a change in behaviour in young people and to those connected to them.
The award scheme encourages good recycling and other eco-friendly habits to be established in schools and followed through in homes and communities.
