Sally Kettle was awarded a Guinness World Record for being part of the first mother-daughter team to row the Atlantic Ocean from east to west.

Ms Kettle rowed the ocean with her mum having completed a previous transatlantic voyage.

She visited 1st Ewell Village Brownies and Guides on Thursday, January 28.

Ms Kettle is also a vice-president of The Children’s Trust, a UK charity for children with brain injury, and has raised more than £500,000 for charity.

In October 2011 she flew out to Thailand to support families devastated by extensive flooding, and has also raised money for the Royal British Legion by retracing the steps of World War Two resistance heroine Nancy Wake as she trekked across the Pyrenees.

She frequently visits brownie and guide troops to give inspirational talks about adventures and lead group sessions.

Ms Kettle said: “It is such a pleasure to visit so many young women, and I hope in some small way I’ve inspired them to lead an adventurous life.

“I also earned my Brownie Water Safety and Sports badges and quite frankly that’s really quite cool.”
