Disabled Mole Valley residents are to be offered free Futsal, trampolining and swimming sessions throughout this month as part of a programme to encourage people to get active.
Mole Valley District Council has relaunched its Inclusive Sports campaign after being supported by Sports England.
The council was initially awarded a grant from Sports England to encourage disabled residents in Mole Valley to get active in 2014.
This year it benefited again after being awarded county-wide funding to develop physical activity for people over 50 years-old.
Councillor Lucy Botting, executive member for community well-being said: “This is a really exciting and important initiative.
“The day-to-day activities of nearly 15 per cent of residents within Mole Valley are limited by long term illness or disability.
“Our Inclusive Sports programme is a great way for these residents to continue to play the sports they enjoy.”
A parent recently wrote to MVDC saying “With regards to your disabled policy, I would just like to say a massive thank you for taking on our son.
“He is absolutely loving his Sunday futsal.
“It has also opened other footballing doors for him, so a huge thank you for giving him this opportunity after he has been turned down so many times in the past.”
