Every year, the Facey family - Steve, 46, Carla, 34, Freddie, nine, Sammy, six, and Finlay, two - decorate their home in Chessington Road much to the admiration of passers-by.

They held their own Christmas lights switch-on event on Saturday, November 28 by inviting friends and family to their illuminated, festive home.

Carla Facey, said the family are now expected to go bigger and better every year.

This year they have succeeded, covering the whole front of their house with dazzling elves, reindeer, snowmen, and even a projection of Father Christmas in an upstairs window.

She said: "Every year we have added to it, and this year is the biggest so far.

"We have had notes through the door saying, Christmas is not Christmas without your house."

It’s not just for show as the Faceys have set up a collection box outside their house for Surrey Sands which helps and supports bereaved parents affected by the loss of a baby.

£142 was collected on the first night.

Mrs Facey explained: "Surrey Sands has been very supportive of one of my friends after her baby was stillborn.

"That was a really tricky year, but they have been really good to her."

‘Father Christmas’ Steve Facey, a business owner, revels in his family’s "awesome" lights, and said that despite the expensive electricity bill, he enjoys spreading the Christmas cheer each December.

He said: "It is just great watching mums, dads and children outside watching - some of them are just in awe.

"Altogether, it is a wonderful, wonderful time."
