Fundraisers sipped coffee and ate cake to help fight cancer this week as part of the Macmillan world’s biggest coffee morning.
The coffee morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event – last year raising £25m.
The weekend was kicked off in Ashtead at the Bike Beans Cycle Cafe, in Rectory Lane, where owner Jamie Chisholm organised a day full of fun events to bring in donations.
Barry Robinson, who runs spinning class Pedal Active above the cafe, said: “Jamie did a really good job putting everything on and the atmosphere was cracking.
“Our customers were incredibly generous.”
On Sunday Banstead Cricket Club held a Great British Bake Off-themed coffee morning, and Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood lookalikes were on hand to commend “good bakes” and condemn “soggy bottoms”.
During the week offices put on their own coffee mornings, including Mantle Financial Planning, in Stoneleigh, which also held its own raffle.
