A golf team from Surrey Choices have been raising money for Children in Need, with a little help from Pudsey Bear.

The team from the Woodmansterne Project played a specially designed Children in Need game of golf at Woodmansterne Sports Club, Banstead, with themed holes including one dedicated to Sir Terry Wogan and one featuring a seven foot, crazy golf inspired Pudsey Bear.

And as an extra treat, Children in Need provided a Pudsey Bear costume so that the teams could meet the famous bear.

The Woodmansterne Project is run by Surrey Choices, and offers support to adults with a variety of learning difficulties and disabilities across the Woodmansterne area.

Staff began a golf group at the project in May.

Although most of the players had no golfing experience when it was first formed, the Woodmansterne team went on win a mini golf tournament at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park later that month.

In July they spent the day at Epsom Golf Club with professional golfer Henni Zuel.

For the fundraiser today, they were due to be joined by golf teams from the Surrey Choices services Colebrook, in Redhill, and The Larches, in Epsom.

Other activities were due to include an official ribbon cutting ceremony to open the course, penalty shoot outs and raffles.

Surrey Choices is also creating a short film featuring footage from the day, which they are hoping will be featured on the BBC Children in Need programme in November.

Over the last 25 years, Surrey Choices have put on a number of fundraising events for Children in Need, and raised more than £10,000 for the charity.

Speaking before the event, Surrey Choices senior day service officer David Lawrence said: "We are all so excited about the upcoming Pudsey Golf Day and it has created a really positive atmosphere within the organisation.

"Staff and customers are really looking forward to meeting Pudsey Bear."

"The Pudsey golf course can be used for many years to come and will continue to fundraise for Children in Need."
