Nursery children have had a wild time dressing as animals to raise money for charity.

Children at Fennies nursery in Epsom took part in the event on Monday, August 17 to raise money for the charity Sparks, which funds pioneering children’s medical research.

This year, the eight different Fennies nurseries in Surrey, Kent and south London have raised an approximate total of £6,000 between them for the charity.

This includes the director of Fennies, John Warren, who took part in a sponsored 100 mile bike ride for Sparks at the start of the month, raising more than £500.

On his JustGiving page, Mr Warren said: “Sparks funds research into any condition that can affect children’s health, from premature birth and meningitis to cerebral palsy and childhood cancer.

“With your help we can fund vital research in order to make a lasting difference to children’s health in the future.”

The children at the Epsom nursery, which opened in December 2014, picked the animal theme themselves, after deciding that they wanted to talk and learn more about animals.

Other animal themed activities over the past week have included animal felt sticking, hiding animals in messy play like gel or foam, eating animal shaped biscuits and making animal masks.

Fennies have more fundraising ahead, with a nursery-wide charity bake-off on the horizon.
