An act of ‘mindless thuggery’ saw two young women subjected to a ‘vicious and unprovoked attack’ in broad daylight yesterday in Epsom.

The pair were walking along McKenzie Way at around 5pm when they were approached by a number of teenagers walking from the Grove Close direction.

A woman approached one of the victims aged 22, punching her in the face and the other, an 18-year-old woman, was punched to the body.

A white man shouted abuse at the pair. He is described as 5ft 8in, of skinny build with very short blonde hair.

He was wearing grey trousers, a short sleeved white shirt and trainers.

The other woman was a white female aged around 16 to 17-years-old, 5ft 7in tall and of a heavy build.

She is described as having dark blonde hair tied up in a ponytail and may have had a tooth missing. She was wearing a long sleeved grey top and grey jogging bottoms.

Detective sergeant Natalie Pearce said: "This was a vicious, unprovoked assault. The women were terrified by the violence and intimidation of the attack.

"This type of mindless thuggery has no place on the streets of Surrey."
