A barbershop which cuts the hair of customers who originally came in as children with their fathers is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

The Village Barber, in Banstead High Street, organised a celebration with balloons on Saturday to mark the milestone last week.

Manager Giuseppe Noto, 32, described it as the "oldest barbershop in the villlage" and said his father Michael Noto, 63, started the family business in 1990.

Giuseppe Noto said: "We have had kids that used to come in with their fathers when they where younger. Now they're older, they bring their kids in. We have had many generations come in."

A few years ago, England football manager Roy Hodgson caused a stir when he popped into the barbershop for a haircut.

Mr Noto added: "We have had the same staff working for us for the past 25 years which is really rare these days. We are still going strong. Here's to another 25 years."
