A family of travellers finally left a leisure centre car park on Monday evening.

The travellers' caravan and two other vehicles arrived at the Leatherhead Leisure Centre car park, off Guildford Road on Wednesday, March 4.

On Friday Councillor Charles Yarwood, executive member for assets at Mole Valley District Council, said: "As this is an unauthorised encampment, Fusion Lifestyle, responsible for the land that the travellers are parked on, have asked the family to leave.

"In line with Mole Valley District Council’s responsibilities towards the family, the site has been visited and the necessary welfare checks have been conducted and no specific needs have been identified.

"Surrey Police are aware of the situation and MVDC and Fusion will continue to work closely together with the police to resolve the matter."
