A big-hearted children's choir has recorded its very own Christmas single to raise money for charity.

The Song Squad, based at Christ Church Epsom Common, have come up with a brand new song called One Christmas Wish.

Their song has already raised £400 for youth club Epsom Phab and a fund which buys equipment for Epsom Hospital where nearly all the choir members were born.

Church volunteer Andrew Davies, director of Song Squad, is asking people to throw their support behind the "great initiative from a group of proactive local children".

Mr Davies said: "Song Squad, Epsom's fantastic and fun children's choir have written, performed and recorded a brand new, original Christmas song...especially for everyone in the Epsom area for Christmas 2014.

"It's a great song and a wonderful cause. In the final week before Christmas the children are keen to get that figure as high as we can!"

Mr Davies said he was "bowled over" when the children came up with a song for Mother's Day and then created an anthem which won the under 12s award of the Mayor's Musical Challenge.

He said: "At Christmas we always go carol-singing like other adult and youth choirs, but after the year we've just had, the children wanted to go one stage further and record our own original song to raise money for charity."

Copies of the song are being given away in return for a £1 donation to charity. From now on proceeds are expected to go to Epsom Medical Equipment Fund.

The choir has just over 20 members, aged between 7 and 12 years old, who attend a range of local schools.

The song is available from eBay, charity shops in Epsom High Street and Christmas services at Christ Church in Epsom Common Road, Epsom.
