Heavy rain yesterday forced the cancellation of a charity pantomime horse race in Epsom.

But the Mayor's Charities Family Fun Race Day still went ahead after being moved indoors from Epsom’s marketplace to the Ashley Centre.

Even though there were no races, there was still live music and sightings of the pantomime horses in the shopping mall.

Your Local Guardian:

Organiser Paul Taylor, from community Facebook page What’s on in Epsom, said: "We had to cancel the races because of the weather.

"We moved into the Ashley Centre in the end and just had some live music as well as a collection for the Mayor's charities."

Brian Angus, chairman of the Mayor's charities, said: "We raised £250 which was excellent.

"Laine Theatre Arts are very kind to support our event and they made a lovely sound until I couldn’t resist the temptation to join in singing Away in a Manger."

The Mayor, Councillor Robert Foote, said: "The Laine choir bought the Ashley Centre alive to the sound of music and their brilliant performance made a real difference to the event."

His charities are the Epsom and Ewell Foodbank, Citizens Advice Bureau and Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
