A fish and chip shop which takes pride in serving up the traditional dish is giving half its first day’s takings to a children’s charity.
Plaice to Eat, in Epsom High Street, opened on Monday and is donating the £1,320 it rang up on its tills that day to Children’s Trust in Tadworth, which helps children with brain injuries.
Owner Sahin Agirbas said they had "spread their wings" after opening the Posh Plaice in Tattenham Corner in 2008 and the Major Plaice in Ewell Village in 2013.
He thanked loyal customers for coming along to the grand opening on Monday along with the Mayor and Mayoress of Epsom.
He said: "It was a lovely day. It went very well. We had a huge crowd there. We take pride in what we do and we have created a beautiful restaurant as well as the takeaway facilities."
