Five men have been arrested following a burglary at the weekend.

Police officers were called to Hylands Mews, Epsom, after an iPhone and laptop computer were stolen from a property there overnight on Friday, October 24, and Saturday, October 25.

A police officer who was making enquiries in the area noticed a group of men looking suspicious and called police officers to make the arrests.

Two men in their late teens were arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft from a motor vehicle.

Three other men were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

They have all been released on police bail until Saturday, November 22, while the investigation continues.

The items stolen have been recovered and will be returned to their owner.

Detective Constable Adam Hewitt, from East Surrey CID, said: "Burglary is a crime which unfortunately affects a lot of people during their lives and it is an experience which can have a lasting effect.

"Although we can't take away the feeling of someone invading your home, I hope the victim of this burglary, feels some form of relief that we were able to find their stolen items.

"I must praise the quick-thinking investigating officer for their actions which led to the five arrests."

Surrey Police launched its winter burglary campaign today to remind residents to use locks and lights when leaving their homes and to list items with a property register such as Immobilise, details for which can be found by clicking here
