A newly formed charity has laid on a fun-filled vintage tea dance for more than 80 old people at a community centre.

Home Instead Senior Care Bring Joy Foundation funded the dance party at the Wells Centre in Spa Drive, Epsom, on Friday October 3.

Great grandmother Kathleen Searle, 90, from Epsom, said: "I loved the happiness, the companionship, the dancing, our sing-song and all the tea drinking."

Marie Bacchio, from the Wells, said: "A beautiful afternoon with all the proper touches, we’ve all been made to feel so very special."

Her friend Jeanie Willsher added: "When I was a little girl my aunty took me to a tea dance, it was a special occasion then and a special occasion now."

Sam Brocklebank, from the charity, said: "Getting older brings many challenges but it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom.

"Our charity exists to fund the little things that can make a big difference to older people’s lives.

"The Wells Centre touched the heart of our charity and we felt that an afternoon of old school entertainment would be perfectly fitting for one of our very first donations."
