Despite their best efforts, badminton players failed in their attempt to break a world record on Saturday.
A hundred players gathered at the Ebbisham Sports Club in Epsom to take on the Guinness World Record for the most participants in a badminton rally.
But the current record is 120. And Lesley Coles, publicity officer at the sports club, said they only managed to keep the shuttlecock in the air between 66 participants.
Ms Coles said: "It was great fun. Everybody had a really good time. We didn’t manage to break the world record but we did more than last year."
Members of the Ebbisham Performance Centre, which teaches badminton, also took part in a 24-hour sponsored badminton marathon.
The marathon, between 6pm on Friday and 6pm on Saturday, raised money for the performance centre and Epsom Riding for the Disabled Association.
The world record attempt took place at 4pm on Saturday.
