A Fathers for Justice campaigner who set up camp for nearly 12 hours on Chris Grayling’s roof yesterday is down after he was arrested last night.

He said: "I'll have one last fag" before his arrest, BBC Surrey reported.

The broadcaster said he also gave advice to police about the scaffolding put up to bring him down saying "Don't wanna go breaking tiles".

The protester, identified by the campaign group as Martin Matthews, of Great Bookham, climbed onto the roof of the Epsom and Ewell MP’s home in Ashtead, with supplies to last him 'five days', at 9pm on Tuesday evening.

He had a tent, a banner and even appeared to have 'pulled a moonie' baring his behind in a photo circulated by New Fathers for Justice.,

New Fathers for Justice said Mr Matthews was staging the spectacle to "highlight the injustice parents face in the present family court system" to Mr Grayling, who is also secretary of state for justice.

A Surrey Police spokesman said Mr Matthews had been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass and criminal damage yesterday evening.

He said: "Officers were called to the property at around 12.15am on Wednesday, 20 August.

"A man was located on the roof at the premises and officers closely monitored the situation throughout the day."

Mr Matthews was kept in police custody after his arrest.
