Television legend Barbara Windsor carried on entertaining when she visited the UK’s largest rehabilitation centre for injured servicemen and women.

Along with her husband Scott Mitchell, "Babs" - as she is affectionately known to fans - popped into Headley Court, near Epsom, to watch her film Carry On Doctor with patients in the centre’s Medicinema.

The cinema opened in 2012 - thanks to a £410,000 donation from the Royal British Legion, providing a state-of-the-art, 50-seater, fully digital entertainment centre.

The event started with a short question-and-answer session from Eastenders star Windsor, in which she expressed her respect and admiration for those involved in the Carry on films - a cast of friends who she said she greatly misses.

She also spoke about how much weight she desperately tried to lose for the role to get into her famously revealing heart costume.

The actress also signed a ‘boobs’ cake on the night which was auctioned for charity.

Peter Haslam, spokesman for Headley Court, said: "On behalf of all the patients and staff who attended the Carry-On themed cinema evening, I would like to offer sincere thanks to Barbara and her husband Scott for taking the time to make the evening so special."

Elizabeth Grace Johnson, MediCinema’s manager, added: "We work to offer a free of charge experience in a safe escapist environment. The power of film is wonderful.

"To have Barbara Windsor with us was such a treat.  Great to see the smiles on patients’ faces, laughing along with Barbara by their side in the cinema."
