Get out and live a healthier lifestyle, Elmbridge warned

Councillors are encouraging residents to get out and about this month and discover a new, healthy lifestyle.

The initiative, called Skip the Treadmill and Head up to a Hill (Or an Open Space) with the Green Exercise Campaign, aims to promote a healthy diet, exercise and enjoyment of nature.

The boot camp, which promises to make being active fun and friendly, started this week at Brooklands Community Park with an all-abilities exercise class.

The next session, for people who want to help the environment while enjoying the great outdoors, will take place at West End Lane car park, Portsmouth Road, Esher, on Tuesday, July 17, at 10am.

This will be followed by a healthy cookery demonstration at Mole Hall, Molesey, on Wednesday, July 18, at 2.30pm, giving tips and advice on cooking healthily.

The final session takes place on Tuesday, July 31, at 10am at Garsons Farm, and will be an intensive hour-long workout for anyone who wants to get into the Olympic sporting spirit.

Councillor Jan Fuller said: “Being active outdoors is such a great feeling, no matter what the weather.”
