Proud guides show off their certificates after achieving the highest award in guiding.

Lucy Pearson, who delivers the Elmbridge Guardian, Georgina Melson, Alice Foster and Jane Akguneyli met district commissioner Alison Evans after completing the Baden Powell Challenge.

The challenge award takes at least a year to complete and involves making your promise, gaining a minimum of two guide challenge badges, and getting two interest badges.

Jacqui Biggs, 2nd East Molesey guide leader, said: “The guides had to organise guide events, run the evening with activities that they had designed for 30 other guides, providing the equipment that was needed.

“They had to develop a new skill, carry out activities they hadn’t done before that stretched them and learn about guiding overseas.

“It develops confidence and leadership skills and they can go on to achieve their Queens Guide at 16 to 18.”

The guides were part of 2nd East Molesey Guides and have now gone up to the senior section.
