2:34pm Thursday 16th February 2012 in Elmbridge By Louise Robertson
A beautiful bunch of red roses dumped the morning after Valentine’s Day was being watered by council workers in case their owner has a change of heart.
Elmbridge Council’s recycling team were intrigued by the discovery of the abandoned bouquet at their Esher recycling centre.
Colin Flexman, enforcement officer at Elmbridge, said: “We often find unwanted items are illegally fly-tipped at our recycling centres, but on this occasion we can only imagine how or why these lovely roses ended up here.”
The flowers are being cared for at the Civic Centre in Esher if the mystery valentine wants them back.
Elmbridge’s recycling team would also like to remind lovers everywhere, to recycle their champagne bottles in their recycling bin and compost flowers at home, or via the council’s garden waste subscription service.
