Foodies are being encouraged to host a dinner party, hold a Come Dine With Me competition or even have a bath in baked beans for children’s hospice Shooting Star Chase.
Any activity involving food and drink can be put on for the hospice, which supports over 500 families in Surrey and West Sussex with children and teenagers not expected to reach their 19th birthday.
Chef and writer Nigella Lawson will take part in the campaign Eat ‘n’ Greet campaign, which runs through March.
She said: “Coming together to share a meal is an important part of life, so what better way to raise money than to cook and eat with friends and family. I hope everyone cooks up a storm.”
With no government funding, Shooting Star Chase must raise £23,000-a-day to continue providing its vital services to its homes in Hampton and Guildford.
Mike Hey, head of community for the hospice, said: “This is a brilliant way to get all members of the community, young and old, involved in fundraising.
“A lot of the families we support are so busy that they cannot always enjoy a good meal together, we hope that this campaign will ensure they have more opportunities to do so in the near future.”
