A would-be kidnapper allegedly tried to bundle a man into the back of a vehicle.

The victim, a man in his early 20s, was reportedly approached from behind as he walked down the alleyway off Eastworth Road in Chertsey opposite the Tesco Express.

Police say he was then attacked by a man, who unsuccessfully tried to bundle him into a vehicle.

Surrey Police was unable to provide any further detail about the nature of the attack nor the type of vehicle involved.

Detective Constable Hannah Clarke, from North Surrey CID, said: "This incident took place at a busy time of day and we believe that other park users or pedestrians may have seen something.

"This kind of behaviour has no place in our neighbourhoods and it's something we won't tolerate.”
