Arsonists targeted a family’s garage in a suspected hate crime, police believe.
Surrey Police believe arsonists broke into a residential garage in Egmont Road, Walton-on-Thames sometime between 6.30pm and 7pm on Saturday, April 1.
Once inside the garage, they set fire to a shoe rack, which caused a small amount of damage, a spokesperson for the force said.
Acting Sergeant Samantha De Cogan said: “We believe this family is being targeted deliberately and we are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
“At the moment we have very few lines of enquiry and are appealing to anyone with any information to come forward straightaway.
“Hate crime of any kind will not be tolerated in Surrey and all offenders will be dealt with robustly.”
