A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a home in Weybridge.

The body of a woman in her 30s was found alongside a seriously injured man, also in his 30s, at a house in the exclusive St George’s Hill area.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment after the pair were found at 10am.

DCI Jason Taylor, senior investigating officer from the Surrey and Sussex major crime team, said: "The investigation into this tragic incident is still in the very early stages but at this time I believe this to be an isolated incident, with no wider threat to the community.”

The woman has not yet been formally identified, but officers believe they know who the woman is and have informed her next of kin.

The luxury, 964-acre St George's Hill estate features tennis and golf clubs as well as more than 400 homes. A home there can sell for £5m or more.

Former residents reportedly include musicians Elton John, Cliff Richard and footballer John Terry.

Its residents' association website calls the area a "distinctive and unique location designed for driven, motivated and successful high achievers" who want to live in "a secure and private location in understated and tranquil surroundings."
