Two more people have been arrested this morning in connection with the murder of antiques dealer Robyn Mercer in West Molesey, bringing the total number of arrests in the investigation to five.

Two 26-year-olds, who had previously been arrested on suspicion of Ms Mercer’s murder and have been bailed until May 20, were arrested at separate addresses in West Molesey on suspicion of conspiracy to burgle and murder early this morning.

One of the men was also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

A 20-year-old woman from Oxshott and a 44-year-old woman were also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Today’s arrests now bring the total of arrests in the investigation to five.

Mother-of-two Ms Mercer, 50, was found bludgeoned to death in her front garden in Abbey Walk, Walton Road on the morning of Monday, March 14.

A 52-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of murder the day she was found, and remains on bail until May 19.

A post-mortem examination found Ms Mercer had died from multiple blows to the head.

A spokeswoman for Surrey Police said: “Today’s activity aims to collect and build on intelligence to support the enquiries to bring those responsible for Robyn’s murder to justice.

“The day of action saw specialist officers working together to ensure any information or witnesses who have yet to come forward are identified.”

Detective chief inspector Paul Rymarz, who is leading the investigation, said: "A family has been left devastated as a result of the attack on their loved one.

“I am convinced someone knows who was responsible and I would ask them to consider the grief that her relatives are facing and share anything which might help the investigation.”

Surrey Police officers are continuing house to house enquiries as part of the investigation.

The force has also appealed to the public to contact them on 101 if they witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or saw a vehicle in the vicinity of Walton Road between 8pm on Sunday, March 13 and 8am on Monday, March 14, quoting Operation Zebu.
