A shocked Walton woman woke up find these four ponies grazing on her front lawn – for the second time.

Irena Sherlock, of Hurtwood Lane said: “I just tried to ensure that there would be no accidents as children and adults were going to school and work, so called the police who were already responding, I updated them as to the location of the horses, very quick they were too.”

"This is the second time the horses have come to visit in the last couple of months. I didn't realise they lived on the Heath land off Fieldcommon. I didn't go out to them because I might have freaked them. Not being a horsey person, I didn't know what to do.

"The first time they were in my front garden neighing - the police were already on that case, it was amusing in a way as it was dark and the horses were clippotty clopping up the road with the police trying to round them up."

A spokeswoman for Surrey Police said they received a call at about 5.26am last Friday reporting a number of horses on the loose in Molesey Road, and sent officers to locate their owner.

She added that the horses were rounded up and put back in their field by 6.50am, but a further call was received at 7.35am reporting more horses in Hurtwood Road which police were dealing with to “ensure road users and the animals themselves are not put at risk”.
