Pupils across the borough are anxiously opening results letters to see if they will move on to their chosen A-levels or other courses.

First to come in are the results from St George's College, Weybridge.

A total of 38 pupils achieved A*-As, including eight with 10A*s of more. Over the entire year group 66 per cent of grades were either A* or A. 

Alasdair Miller, who achieved 11 A*s, said: "Two years of hard work has paid off today. It feels really good to have done so well.

"Thanks to my really supportive teachers who have helped me fulfil my potential."

Notable performances include Phoebe Jackson and Toby Sanderson both achieving a glittering 11 A* Grades each. Catherine Osbourne, Finn McIntosh, Ana Brumwell, Ali Miller, Adele White and Jordan Whitely all achieved 10 A* grades.

Pupils at Heathside School in Weybridge have done well with 22 gaining 10 or more passes at A* or A grade.

The pass rate at grades A* to C is 83 per cent this year.

Anne Cullum, principle, said: "The year's outstanding results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students throughout two years of GCSE study.

"Our committed staff have worked extremely hard to inspire our students and help them to achieve these very high standards."

Claremont Fan Court School in Esher, has seen a 97 per cent pass rate, with 39 per cent of those gaining A* and A grades.

Jonathan Insall-Reid, headmaster, said: "These successful results are thoroughly deserved and demonstrate the diligent work of our pupils and teaching staff."

Reed’s School in Cobham has had its best ever year with a 100 per cent pass rate and 34 per cent A* passes.

Headmaster Mark Hoskins said: “I am extremely proud of our pupils who have obviously worked with determination and commitment to achieve these impressive GCSE results.”

Notre Dame School, also in Cobham, has seen 20 per cent of students achieving 10 or more A and A* grades. The Art department retained 100 per cent A*s for the fourth year running.

Anna King, headteacher, said: “Excellent academic teaching, an ethos of hard work and individual mentoring for each GCSE student has enabled our girls to achieve superb results again this year.”

At Hinchley Wood School in Claygate 78 per cent of pupils gained A* to C grades, and an overall pass rate at grades A* to G of 99.5 per cent.

Headteacher Ben Bartlett said: "I am truly delighted for our students. They have worked really hard throughout their GCSE courses and they thoroughly deserve the many successes they have achieved."
