Stargazers from Sky News called upon the people of Esher to come to their aid after they became trapped in Esher Rugby Club.
Reporters were filming a stargazing segment in the grounds of the rugby club in Molesey Road on Tuesday night, but found the surprise hurdle of a locked gate a bit much for their cars.
Trapped for a brief but unsettling half hour, presenter Gemma Morris tweeted the progress of the team as they were left on the wrong side of the fence.
At one point she informed her 4,000-plus followers on Twitter she had been told to call police to help with the “worsening” stargazing situation.
But she had perhaps already sealed the group's fate by starting the evening’s tweets with: “Tune in to @skynews this Friday at 9.30pm to see the #Swipe team get stuck into #stargazing.”
Oh no. We are locked inside #Esher Rugby Club. Seriously. Stargazers come back and help us! pic.twitter.com/t457KlA4Iq
