Street Feast at Lewisham Model Market

5pm to late, every Friday and Saturday until October 3 in Lewisham High Street

After a successful debut last year, the hipster haven that is the street feast is back. The abandoned 1950s market becomes THE place for street food, booze and music. It boasts five bars, a rum shack, cocktails and food from the likes of SE Cakery, Mother Flipper burgers and Mama’s Jerk. Entry is free before 7pm and £3 after. Go to streetfeastlondon.com

Greenwich Market

Another one of the capital’s long-running and most celebrated markets, Greenwich market has been going since 1737, is covered (handy for rainy days) and boasts 120 stalls in the beautiful historic town. The exhibitors vary by day – antiques and collectables Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and craft and design the rest of the week. You’ll also pick up some tasty food any day. Brockley Market

Wallington Farmers’ Market

Recommended by Julie Groves on our Facebook page, the market is the oldest in the borough and is packed with quality produce such as jams, meats, pies, fruit and veg, cheeses, cakes, ciders and fruit juices.

9am to 1pm on the third Saturday of the month in Maple Road

Of course the home of The Good Life’s Barbara and Tom has a great farmer’s market. Of course it does. It’s been going monthly since 2009, has won multiple awards – including the FARMA Farmer’s Market of the Year Award in 2013. It has 26 stalls selling locally-grown and artisan foods. Tooting

Tooting is home to not one but two impressive markets. The indoor Tooting Market in the High Street has been going for more than 80 years and is open seven days a week selling fresh food, clothes, music, art and crafts, hot food and even the chance to get your hair and nails done. Broadway Market is the largest indoor covered market in south London, and has been open for just under 80 years.
