A man who drunkenly drove through the entrance of a Subway restaurant leaving an 80-year-old hospitalised for a week, has been disqualified from driving.
Marek Jankowski, of Cox Lane, Chessington, admitted drink-driving and driving without due care and attention when he appeared in court this week.
The car the 30-year-old was driving ploughed through the glass window of the sandwich shop in Walton Road, East Molesey just after 11pm on July 25.
A second car went into the wall next to the shop. Its driver, an elderly woman, was taken to Kingston Hospital.
A week later she remained in hospital having suffered broken ribs, a broken ankle, neck and back pain.
The restaurant was boarded up after the crash
Jankowski appeared at Staines Magistrates' Court on August 12 and was ordered to pay costs of £785 and was disqualified from driving for 22 months.
