Two mothers are donning onesies and taking a hike to raise money for a charity close to their hearts.

Hayley Willoughby, 27, from Walton, and Lucie Johnson, 26, from Byfleet, both have sons on the autistic spectrum.

They have teamed up to organise a sponsored walk on Onesie Wednesday for world autism awareness week. The pair hopes to raise more than £500 for the National Autistic Society Surrey branch with the help of family and friends.

Harrison Willoughby, five, was born early. His mother said: "When he got to six-months-old I knew there was something wrong and from there on he did not meet any of his milestones."

He now goes to the Orchard School in East Molesey, which his mother praised as being "fantastic with him".

Miss Willoughby said: "Harrison still has significant delays and every day is a battle for him to try to understand and process the world around him."

Cameron Johnson, seven, also struggled to talk at a young age. His mother said: "I didn’t know much about autism and went through all the emotions but from that day on we were helped by so many organisations."

The walk is on Wednesday, April 1. To sponsor, visit justgiving.com/Hayley-Willoughby.
