Businesses can stop by for a session on grant applications at the civic centre.

The Civic Improvement Fund was established in 2009 to help boost the economy and attract more people to use services and amenities. Since then the scheme has allocated more than £550,000 to more than 150 businesses.

The scheme can provide businesses with free money towards a range of projects, including shop fronts and signage, new street furniture, promotions and marketing initiatives as well as learning skills and training initiatives.

Councillor John O'Reilly, leader of the council, said: "The business grant scheme is a vital part of the council commitment to the Elmbridge economy. With such a strong background of supporting our local shops, I would encourage businesses in the area to take advantage of the help available."

The next businesses grant drop-in session will be held at the Civic Centre, Esher on February 6, from noon to 2pm. Visit elmbridge.gov.uk/business.ecif.
